A retired Special Forces veteran is the subject of a multi-agency manhunt in Tennessee after authorities say he shot his wife and fled into nearby woods.
Craig Berry is accused of opening fire during a domestic incident at his home in Dover early Friday morning, according to the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say he fled on foot into a heavily wooded area before deputies arrived.
Officials say Berry, who has extensive military survival training, is considered armed and dangerous and may still be carrying at least one handgun along with extra ammunition. A trail camera image reportedly shows him moving through the woods in camouflage shortly after the shooting.
His wife was hospitalized following the incident. Authorities later confirmed she has since been released.
Law enforcement agencies, including local deputies, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Marshals Service, are involved in the ongoing search. Officials say they are continuing methodical ground operations while following active leads and reviewing possible outside assistance.
Investigators have also noted that Berry is experienced in survival tactics, making the search more complex due to terrain and conditions.
