I-24 East Reopens After Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Haywood Lane

All lanes are moving again after a three-vehicle crash shut down I-24 East for nearly two hours during the morning commute. Metro Police say no life-threatening injuries were reported.

The crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. near the Haywood Lane exit, involving three vehicles in the eastbound lanes. Traffic backed up for several miles toward downtown as crews worked to clear the scene.

Metro Nashville Police confirmed that all occupants were evaluated at the scene, with two people transported for minor injuries. The Tennessee Department of Transportation reopened the final lane shortly after 8:30 a.m.

Drivers headed toward Murfreesboro should still expect residual delays through mid-morning. WeGo Route 55 briefly detoured during the closure and has since resumed normal service.
