Two Dead in Greyhound Bus Crash on Highway 70 in Madison County

Two individuals were killed, and nearly 30 others were injured in a crash involving a Greyhound bus and a passenger vehicle on Highway 70 East in Madison County, Tennessee, on Monday evening. The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed the fatalities but has not disclosed whether the deceased were aboard the bus or in the other vehicle.

The Greyhound bus was en route from Memphis to Nashville, carrying 32 passengers, a driver, and a relief driver. Approximately 27 individuals were transported to local hospitals for treatment. According to a Greyhound spokesperson, most of the hospitalized passengers have since been released.

The incident has been classified as a “mass casualty event,” prompting a coordinated response from multiple agencies, including the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Madison County Fire Rescue, and MedCenter EMS. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is actively investigating the crash, reconstructing both the scene and the mechanical systems of the bus. Further details remain limited as of Tuesday afternoon.
