Man Fatally Stabbed in Madison Church Parking Lot

The Metro Nashville Police Department has identified the victim of a fatal stabbing that occurred early Monday morning in the parking lot of Madison First Baptist Church on Gallatin Pike South. The victim has been named as 44-year-old James Cane Jr.

At approximately 12:00 a.m., a Madison precinct officer observed two men engaged in an altercation in the church parking lot. Upon approaching, the officer found Cane lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds to his torso. Cane reportedly stated that the other man had stabbed him.

As emergency responders attempted to provide aid, the second man fled the scene on foot. Cane was transported to Skyline Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect remains unidentified, and authorities are actively seeking information from the public. Anyone with details about the incident or the whereabouts of the suspect is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
