If you were driving down I-24 in Tennessee recently and thought you saw a zebra sprinting across traffic you weren’t hallucinating.
A zebra actually escaped from a trailer and ended up causing quite the stir on a busy stretch of the interstate. According to officials, the animal was part of a traveling petting zoo being transported through the area when it somehow got loose.
Drivers were stunned as the black-and-white blur darted between lanes, with several pulling over to watch or record the unexpected scene. The zebra was eventually corralled safely, but not before traffic came to a near standstill and videos started popping up all over social media.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol and local law enforcement helped manage the situation. No injuries were reported human or zebra.
It’s not every day you see wildlife like that outside a zoo, let alone weaving through cars on a highway. Just another unexpected day in Tennessee.
