On the evening of Thursday, August 7, 2025, around 8:45 p.m., 33-year-old Rachel Jones was tragically struck and killed in a hit-and-run incident while walking west on State Route 7 near Industrial Park Road in Santa Fe, Maury County, Tennessee.

Local resident Shelby Bone, who witnessed the chaotic scene, described the moment friends of Jones drove by and noticed police lights near the road.

Another witness who preferred not to be identified recounted how she attempted to assist Jones after seeing her in distress. Jones’ car had reportedly run out of oil and seized, and despite efforts to jump-start it, the vehicle wouldn’t start. Jones was visibly upset as the stranger came to her aid, only for the driver involved in the fatal collision to flee the scene without offering help or calling for emergency services.

In the wake of this tragedy, loved ones have launched a GoFundMe campaign for Jones’ two daughters, honoring her as “an amazing mother and a gentle soul.” The page has so far raised over $15,000 in support.

Authorities with the Tennessee Highway Patrol have not released any description of the vehicle involved. They continue to seek information from the public and urge anyone with knowledge about the hit-and-run to contact the THP Lawrenceburg Dispatch Center at 800-736-1759
