Federal and local authorities in Nashville have dismantled an MS-13 cell after a nine-month investigation that culminated in arrests across three states. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), working alongside the Metro Nashville Police Department, coordinated the operation, which led to the capture of at least 17 individuals linked to the gang in Tennessee, California, and Oklahoma.
During the raids, law enforcement executed search warrants throughout Nashville and uncovered a cache of illicit substances and weapons. Seized items included marijuana, cocaine, counterfeit pills, THC vaping products, liquid psilocybin, and multiple firearms, including assault rifles.
MS-13, which originated in Los Angeles, has become notorious for its involvement in violent crime, drug trafficking, and other serious offenses across the United States. According to the DEA, the gang’s activities have left a dangerous footprint in many communities including Nashville prompting this sweeping joint effort.
Officials emphasized that this enforcement action is a significant step, but not the end of their efforts. “The residents of Nashville are safer today now that these dangerous individuals will be held accountable for their destructive actions,” said DEA Administrator Terrance Cole. He added that more operations against MS-13 are expected as agencies continue to pursue the gang’s members and disrupt their networks.
