A man was killed early Monday morning after being struck by a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Harding Place and Donelson Pike, according to Metro police.
Officers responded to the scene around 1:45 a.m. Investigators said the man was naked, behaving erratically, and standing in the middle of the intersection as a tractor-trailer approached.
Police say the driver attempted to avoid hitting the pedestrian, but investigators believe the man jumped onto the truck before falling back onto the roadway, where he was then struck by the rear of the trailer.
The driver remained at the scene following the crash. The pedestrian was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died.
Authorities said there was no evidence the driver was impaired. The Medical Examiner’s Office is currently working to identify the man through fingerprints.
