The U.S. Army has launched a formal investigation into two AH-64 Apache attack helicopters that flew over Saturday’s “No Kings” protest in downtown Nashville before conducting low-altitude maneuvers near Kid Rock’s home just north of the city.
Fort Campbell’s public affairs officer, Maj. Jonathon Bless, confirmed the probe in a written statement on behalf of the 101st Airborne Division.
“Fort Campbell leadership is aware of a video circulating on social media depicting AH-64 Apache helicopters operating in the vicinity of a private residence associated with Mr. Robert Ritchie,” the statement read, referring to Kid Rock by his legal name.
“The command has initiated an investigation to review the circumstances surrounding this activity.”
The statement also emphasized that the 101st Airborne holds its pilots to strict standards covering aviation safety, professionalism, and compliance with established flight regulations.
At this point, Army leadership says it still does not know whether the flyover at the downtown Nashville protest was intentional or coincidental.
Bless told NewsChannel 5 Investigates that pilots routinely fly routes outside of Fort Campbell, but the command has not yet determined the reason behind Saturday’s path.
The investigation is currently focused on the maneuvers near Kid Rock’s estate in Whites Creek, a Nashville suburb where the entertainer lives in a 27,000-square-foot mansion modeled after the White House. The property has been nicknamed the “Southern White House.”
Kid Rock posted footage to X, formerly Twitter, showing himself standing on a covered deck and saluting one of the Apaches as it hovered just beyond his swimming pool.
“This is a level of respect that s–t for brains Governor of California will never know,” he wrote alongside the clip.
A second video showed the helicopter rotating into what appeared to be an attack-facing position toward the entertainer while another Apache swept through the background.
The Army has not confirmed whether the flyovers were authorized or who, if anyone, coordinated the flight path.
The investigation is ongoing.
