A hospital employee in Nashville is being credited with stopping a person who attempted to access a patient’s prescription medication. The individual had entered a non-public section of the facility in order to gain access to the medicine. The staff member intervened and prevented that from happening.

Once the incident began, hospital security responded and alerted the Metro Nashville Police Department. The suspect was arrested by law enforcement, and the hospital confirmed it is cooperating fully in the ongoing investigation.

In a statement, Ascension Saint Thomas said that the safety and well-being of patients is its top priority. The statement noted that the hospital acted immediately, that security was notified, and that staff would receive additional training on access protocols.

The hospital emphasized that it has already taken steps to strengthen security measures at its facility. It reiterated its commitment to ensuring that unauthorized individuals cannot enter restricted areas, especially those involving access to patients’ prescriptions.
