Police investigate shooting near Shelby Avenue

A shooting in East Nashville injured one person late Friday evening. The Metro Nashville Police Department responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 9 p.m. at the intersection of Shelby Avenue and South 10th Street. 

When officers arrived at the scene they found an individual suffering from a gunshot wound. The injured person was taken to a hospital for treatment. At this time police have not released information about the victim’s condition. 

So far police have not identified any suspects or shared what may have led up to the shooting. Details remain sparse. Investigators say they are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses. 

The community is being urged to come forward if they have any information related to the incident. Officials ask anyone with tips to contact Metro Nashville Police.
