A man has died from injuries he suffered in a brush fire earlier this month according to the Lawrence County Fire and Rescue (LCFR). They were called to Rattlesnake Lane on September 9 after reports of a brush fire. On arrival they found a man who had sustained serious burns along with other injuries.

Fire crews administered first aid and the injured person was then flown to a level one trauma center for treatment.  Meanwhile firefighters worked to bring under control a fire that had spread to nearly five acres of grass and brush.

An investigation revealed that the fire began when a riding lawnmower caught fire causing flames to spread to the surrounding grass and brush.  On September 20 LCFR reported that the man has now died from the injuries he suffered in the fire.

LCFR added that the man was well known in the community and was loved by many. They asked that people remember his family in their thoughts and prayers.
