A 21-year-old woman who was reported missing was discovered dead in a McDonald’s parking lot in La Vergne, Tennessee. Authorities say she had failed to return home after her shift at work on Tuesday. Her body was found inside a vehicle located off Murfreesboro Road on Wednesday. Her identity was confirmed as Jocelynn Krauss.

Law enforcement responded after a McDonald’s employee contacted 911. Crime scene detectives from the La Vergne Police Department and the Rutherford County medical examiner were called to the scene.

A passerby first noticed her unconscious inside a white Chevy Malibu just after 11:30 a.m. The passerby initially thought she was sleeping in the car because of how the scene appeared. The vehicle was off and a window had been cracked slightly.

The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of death. The community was shaken by the discovery particularly because what first seemed like a harmless sight turned tragic.
