Fugitive in Deadly Nashville Crash Captured by U.S. Marshals

A high-profile fugitive from Nashville has been apprehended in Brentwood.

On Monday afternoon, the U.S. Marshals Service arrested 31-year-old Adrian Abernathy at a residence on Autumn Oaks Drive. Abernathy was wanted on multiple charges, including vehicular homicide and aggravated assault, stemming from a fatal crash in November 2022.

Authorities allege that Abernathy was driving a stolen Lincoln Navigator SUV at speeds exceeding 100 mph when it collided with a tractor-trailer on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard, resulting in the death of Todd Bryant, a resident of Antioch. Initially, Abernathy claimed he was a passenger and that Bryant was driving. However, further investigation revealed that Abernathy was behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

Following his arrest, Abernathy was booked into the Davidson County Detention Center on the outstanding charges.
