According to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a burglary in progress at a residence on Garrison Branch Road. Upon arrival, authorities learned that the suspect had entered the home and was rummaging through the kitchen cabinets when he was unexpectedly interrupted by a child who encountered him in the kitchen.

Displaying remarkable presence of mind, the child quickly retreated to a bedroom for safety, while the intruder fled the scene through the front door. The child’s swift actions and detailed description of the suspect proved invaluable. Within an hour, deputies and detectives were able to identify the suspect, who was located and brought in for questioning. During the interrogation, the suspect confessed to the burglary. Additionally, investigators discovered that the individual was in possession of stolen cell phones linked to a separate incident.
