As the search for a missing pet zebra in Rutherford County, Tennessee, approaches its seventh day, efforts to care for its companion have intensified. The zebra, affectionately named Ed by its owners, was last seen on Saturday, with sightings reported on Interstate 24 and throughout local neighborhoods. In response to the ongoing search, the owners reached out to Mandy Motes of Circle M Stables for assistance with Ed’s companion. Motes, known for her community spirit, agreed to take in the animal, allowing the owners to focus their efforts on locating Ed. She emphasized that her actions were simply an act of kindness, reflecting the supportive nature of the community.

At Circle M Stables, the companion zebra is being cared for with attention to its needs. Motes describes the animal as preferring solitude, and the staff ensures it is well-fed and hydrated without causing undue stress. This arrangement provides the companion with a stable environment during the ongoing search for Ed.

The owners have expressed profound gratitude for the community’s support, highlighting the overwhelming assistance they’ve received. They specifically acknowledged three volunteers—Megan Harvey-Pinder, Kam Sandstrom, and Jill Redford—for their dedication and compassion in aiding the search. The owners also shared that Ed was originally named Zeke upon arrival but became widely known as Ed through social media and public attention. They now refer to him as Ed, symbolizing the joy and unity he has brought to many.

As the search continues, the community remains hopeful for Ed’s safe return. The combined efforts of the owners, volunteers, and local residents exemplify the strong community bonds in Rutherford County, underscoring the collective hope for a positive outcome in this unusual and heartwarming situation.
