The Spring Hill Police Department is investigating an incident in which a 13-year-old rider on an electric scooter was struck by an SUV. The crash occurred at the intersection of New Port Royal Road and Bern Drive at about 7:35 p.m. on Saturday. The vehicle involved is described as a white SUV. Authorities say it fled the scene, heading east on Bern Drive.

Following the collision the 13-year-old suffered only minor injuries. Emergency responders treated the youngster at the scene and released him shortly thereafter. No major injuries were reported.

The police are asking anyone with information to help with the investigation. They encourage people to submit anonymous tips through a portal on the city’s website or to call dispatch at 931-486-2632 asking to speak with a supervisor.

This case highlights concerns about scooter safety and hit-and-run incidents. Local law enforcement officials say these kinds of events call for increased awareness by drivers and more vigilance by those using scooters or other personal transport devices. Authorities urge witnesses or anyone with relevant video or information to come forward to assist in holding motorists accountable.
