Two women have been charged with organized retail crime after police say they stole clothing from the Alo store at The Mall at Green Hills on May 2nd. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, surveillance video shows 24-year-old Samaria Johnson and 23-year-old Myria Buchanan entering the store, swiftly grabbing stacks of shirts from a table, and walking out undetected.
Remarkably, the entire incident took just eighteen seconds, yet the total value of the stolen clothing amounted to $3,024. Authorities acted quickly in their investigation and identified the suspects by reviewing the store’s surveillance footage, which clearly captured their actions.
The following day Buchanan attempted to resell the stolen merchandise on Facebook. She posted the items in a group recognized by detectives as one used for fencing stolen goods. Buchanan’s name stood out to law enforcement not only for this incident but also for her extensive history of shoplifting in Davidson County.
Both women have since been arrested and are facing charges reflecting the severity of the offense. This case underscores how quickly retail theft can occur and how modern technology aids in identifying suspects.
