Metro Nashville police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man accused of punching an 84 year old man in the face during an altercation at a Shelby Avenue gas station in late June.

According to Metro PD, the victim said he drove to the gas station around 7 p.m. on June 24 to drop off a female family friend. Once there, the woman got out of the car and approached a four-door sedan to talk with the people inside.

That conversation turned into a verbal argument, and the victim told police he heard the man in the sedan accusing the woman of owing him money. The man then confronted the victim and struck him in the face, an assault that surveillance footage from the gas station later confirmed.

Police said the victim and the woman left the scene and drove to Hendersonville Hospital following the attack. Hendersonville Police reached out to East Precinct officers around 11:30 p.m. that night after determining the assault likely happened in Davidson County, not Sumner County.

The woman was taken into custody at the hospital on a DUI charge by Hendersonville Police. She remains held at the Sumner County Jail awaiting a hearing later this month.

The man accused of the assault has not yet been identified. Metro PD released surveillance images from the gas station and is asking anyone who recognizes him to contact Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Tips can be submitted anonymously, and callers may qualify for a cash reward.

This is a developing investigation, and 615Nav will update this story as more information becomes available.
