The Metro Public Health Department (MPHD) confirmed on Friday that a resident of Davidson County has tested positive for measles the first case in Nashville in about 20 years.

The individual is currently in isolation and had recently traveled. The health department states that the person “does not pose a risk to the public.”

MPHD has begun contact-tracing efforts to find anyone who may have been exposed during the infectious period. They also reminded the public that the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine is highly effective in preventing measles.
