Fugitive Arrested After Carjacking, Police Chase Ends in Crash

Police say a dangerous fugitive is in custody after stealing a car from a woman with her child and leading officers on a chase.

The suspect, identified as Lorenzo Weir, was wanted in connection to an armed robbery earlier this week. Officers in Lebanon responded to a carjacking at Peyton Park Apartments, where a silver Chrysler 300 was taken from a woman with a small child inside.

Police later spotted the vehicle near I-40 and Highway 109. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver took off, leading to a pursuit.

Spike strips were deployed, and the chase ended on Old Hickory Boulevard when the suspect crashed into a tow truck at an intersection.

Weir was taken into custody and transported to the hospital with injuries. Police also recovered a firearm believed to be linked to both the carjacking and a previous armed robbery.
