A vacant farmhouse in Lyon County, Kentucky, was destroyed in a fire on Sunday morning, believed to have been caused by an electrical malfunction. The blaze broke out around 10:15 a.m. in the 400 block of Seldon Mitchell Road, prompting a swift response from local emergency services.

Firefighters from the Lyon County and Kuttawa Volunteer Fire Departments arrived at the scene to find the structure fully engulfed in flames. Assisting agencies, including Pennyrile and Lyon County EMS, were also on-site to provide support. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

The farmhouse had been used for storage purposes and was not currently inhabited. While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, authorities suspect an electrical issue may have been the source. The structure’s remote location and the absence of nearby fire hydrants posed challenges for firefighting efforts.

As investigators continue to assess the situation, the community is left to reflect on the loss of a familiar landmark. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of regular electrical inspections and fire safety measures, especially in rural areas where response times can be longer.
