The Metro Nashville Police Department is actively searching for the driver responsible for a fatal hit and run that occurred on Tuesday night in the Old Hickory area. The victim, identified as 33-year-old James Sellars, was stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Old Hickory Boulevard and Pitts Avenue at approximately 7 :30 p.m. when he was struck from behind.
According to police reports, a small Mercedes SUV collided with Sellars’s Kawasaki CR 1000, propelling both the motorcycle and the rider through the intersection and into a light pole. Despite efforts from emergency responders, Sellars was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities believe the Mercedes is significantly damaged in the front, likely missing its bumper, which was found at the crash site. Detectives investigating the fatal collision are urging anyone who recognizes the vehicle or has information about the driver to come forward.
