In Williamson County, Tennessee a mini cosmetics fridge malfunctioned and sparked a fire inside a bedroom late Thursday night according to the Williamson County Fire and Rescue Department (WCFR). Just after midnight, the smoke alarms in the home alerted the family, waking them in time to react. One of their children’s rooms was already filled with smoke when they realized something was wrong.

Thanks to the early warning from those smoke alarms, the family evacuated promptly and made it out of their home safely with no injuries reported. When fire crews and officials from the Williamson County Emergency Management Agency arrived on scene they discovered flames on one wall of the bedroom and were able to extinguish the fire quickly before it spread further.

WCFR confirmed that the fire originated from the malfunctioning mini cosmetics fridge inside the bedroom. While such appliances may appear harmless, they can pose serious fire risks when electrical components fail unexpectedly. This incident highlights that point clearly.

Authorities took the opportunity to commend the family for ensuring their smoke alarms were functional. WCFR urged everyone to test their smoke detectors regularly to make sure they are working properly and are less than ten years old to ensure their effectiveness. Their quick response and properly maintained alarms likely saved lives and helped prevent more extensive damage.
