An arrest warrant has been issued in Roswell, Georgia, for former University of Tennessee wide receiver and current Nashville resident Grant Frerking. The warrant, filed in early July 2025, stems from a joint probe by WSMV4 Investigates and their sister station, Atlanta News First  . Frerking now faces a charge of theft by deception, officially prompting law enforcement action across state lines.

The investigation traced nine separate police complaints alleging that Frerking collected upfront payments for mulch deliveries but failed to follow through. Several homeowners reported they paid in full expecting pine straw or similar landscaping materials, only to have nothing delivered. Among them was Roswell resident Jon Friesen, who paid $1,600 early in the spring for pine straw mulch; although partial refunds were later made, Friesen still claims he is owed $915  .

Further digging into public records revealed that Frerking was under eviction proceedings around the same time he was soliciting payments. He was evicted from a condo in the upscale Gulch neighborhood on Division Street on January 17 and from another condo on 8th Avenue South on March 14—all while asking customers for pre-payment on mulch deliveries  .

After being contacted for comment, Frerking declined an interview but sent a text statement claiming he is “continuing to process refunds.” He assured that “all customers have either received their installation, a refund, or are currently in the process of being refunded,” and he expected that refunds would be completed “within the next 30 days.” According to Roswell authorities, he has since indicated plans to turn himself in  .
