A contract construction worker passed away on Monday while working at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) in Nashville. The worker required medical attention from healthcare staff after being found in distress. Despite rapid response and treatment the individual did not survive.
VUMC released a statement confirming the death and expressed deep sorrow. According to preliminary findings the cause of death was natural and not connected to any of the construction work being performed at the site. During the incident medical professionals attempted to provide emergency assistance but they were unable to save him.
The hospital has not provided details about exactly what led to the natural death. VUMC has also not shared the identity of the worker publicly. The center said it extends its condolences to the person’s family friends and co-workers.
Investigations appear to be procedural and focused on establishing the facts of the case. VUMC emphasized that there was no indication at this time that construction activities played any role in what happened.
