A Nashville parent’s Facebook post is drawing attention to alleged safety and leadership issues at Tom Joy Magnet Elementary School.

In the post, the parent outlines multiple incidents they claim have occurred over the past three years, with concerns escalating in recent months. They describe ongoing bullying within the second grade that they say has not been effectively addressed, despite meetings with school staff.

The parent also alleges that a student brought a pocket knife to school, showed it to classmates, and returned the next day without disciplinary action or a clearly communicated safety plan. In contrast, another student was reportedly suspended for drawing a picture of a knife, raising concerns about inconsistent discipline.

Additional claims include concerns about student supervision, including an incident where a child was found stuck upside down on monkey bars and required assistance from emergency responders. The parent states that no formal incident report was provided to the family.

The post has gained attention online, with some calling for accountability within Metro Nashville Public Schools.
