Man Calls 911 From Trunk After Alleged Kidnapping in Nashville

A terrifying kidnapping in Nashville ended after one of the victims managed to call 911 from inside the trunk of a car. Police say 41-year-old Jericco McFarland forced two men, ages 18 and 26, into the trunk of a white Ford Fusion at gunpoint after firing multiple shots.

One of the victims was struck or grazed on the left leg, with the bullet exiting near his ankle. The incident happened on November 16 around 4:45 p.m. in an alley behind the Citgo gas station on Dickerson Pike. After being locked inside the trunk, one of the men called 911 for help.

A short time later, the car stopped near Lischey Avenue, where police say a second man opened the trunk. Both suspects reportedly pistol-whipped the victims and stole personal items before fleeing.

Police were able to track the victims’ phone and located the vehicle with the men still inside the trunk. Officers rescued both victims, who suffered injuries but survived. Investigators say the victims later identified McFarland in a photo lineup, and surveillance video supported their accounts.

McFarland was arrested Tuesday in a Publix parking lot in west Nashville while inside a different vehicle. Police say he had a loaded gun at the time of his arrest. He now faces multiple charges, including aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
