Truck pulled from lake after suspected DUI crash

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reports that late Saturday night a truck plunged into Tims Ford Lake, though the driver escaped without injury. Rescue crews were dispatched after receiving notification of a submerged vehicle just off the shoreline. Upon arrival, divers located the truck underwater and secured it so it could be pulled from the lake.

Franklin County Rescue coordinated the recovery, working alongside the sheriff’s office and Hasty Wrecker to remove the vehicle. No one was injured during the incident. The driver managed to exit the truck on their own before the rescue operation began.

Law enforcement later arrested the individual for suspicion of driving under the influence. The Tennessee State Parks Rangers are overseeing the investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Authorities have also said they contacted the Rangers for additional details about what happened.

Local officials released a reminder encouraging everyone to exercise care when near water, especially around boat ramps and roads beside lakes. The Franklin County Rescue said people should always stay alert near shores and crossings to reduce the risk of accidents.
