Road resurfacing work in Wilson County will prompt lane closures along Interstate 40 starting Thursday night. The Tennessee Department of Transportation says that the closures will take place in both directions near Exit 226. The project is slated to run nightly through October 8.
Work zones will be active from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m., meaning motorists should expect reduced lanes and slower traffic during those hours. The ramp at Exit 226 may also be closed temporarily while crews carry out resurfacing tasks.
TDOT officials urge travelers to plan ahead, use alternate routes when possible, and allow extra travel time to avoid delays. They also remind drivers to be cautious in work zones, reduce speed, and obey posted signs and personnel directions.
The resurfacing is part of ongoing maintenance efforts aimed at keeping the highway safe and in good condition. Authorities say that despite the inconvenience, completing work overnight is intended to minimize disruption to daytime traffic.
