Police investigate shooting near community park

One person was injured Sunday evening in a shooting near Madison, according to Metro Nashville Police. The incident took place just before 6 p.m. on the 500 block of North Dupont Avenue, near Madison Park and the Madison Community Center. 

Authorities say the victim, an adult, drove themselves to a hospital after the shooting.  The police have not commented on whether there are any suspects in custody nor whether they are actively seeking anyone. 

The location of the incident is notable because it borders both Madison Park and a local community center, making it a public area where neighbors and visitors frequent.  The police department is likely to investigate the circumstances further and gather statements from any witnesses.

At this time, officials have not released detailed information about the motive or the condition of the injured person beyond what has already been shared.  The situation remains under investigation, and more updates are expected as law enforcement collects more evidence.
