A tractor-trailer overturned early Friday morning in the Buffalo Valley area of Putnam County, prompting officials to close a local road. The Putnam County Emergency Management Agency reported that the semi and its trailer crashed on I-40 East near mile marker 269 at around 2 a.m. The rig then rolled down an embankment and came to rest on Buffalo Valley Road.

Several agencies responded to the scene, including Putnam County Fire & Rescue and the regional rope rescue team. The occupants of the truck were extracted from the cab, and fortunately, only minor injuries were reported. Authorities did not indicate that any serious or life-threatening harm occurred to those involved.

As a result of the crash, Buffalo Valley Road remains closed while crews work to clear the wreckage and ensure the area is safe. Officials expect the road will remain inaccessible until early afternoon. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

The Putnam County EMA continues to monitor the situation and has advised the public to check for updates. Further announcements will be made once more information is available or when the road is cleared and reopened.
