Teen driver flown to Nashville hospital

A 17-year-old from Kentucky was airlifted to a Nashville hospital after a one-vehicle crash on Saturday afternoon. The accident happened on Lafayette Road near Binns Mill Road in Christian County when a truck veered off the road and ended up in a ditch. Crews responded quickly to the scene. 

According to WKDZ, the teenager was driving at the time of the wreck. EMS from Hopkinsville took over care on the ground and later transferred the teen to a helicopter for transport to Nashville for more advanced treatment. 

Authorities have not released details about what caused the truck to leave the roadway. The condition of the driver is currently unknown beyond the fact that he required urgent care and medical evaluation in another city. 

Officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash to determine if factors like vehicle issues road conditions or driver error played a role. Further updates may come once they have more information from the crash site and medical reports.
