A Nashville 911 dispatch employee has been placed on administrative leave after an online post about Charlie Kirk’s death sparked widespread criticism. The Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) in Nashville said it became aware of a social media post linked to one of its employees that dealt with the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The DEC is investigating the situation.

The social media post reportedly showed a caricature of Charlie Kirk with a gunshot wound to the neck. At the time of the article, DEC had not confirmed the identity of the employee responsible. Multiple social media accounts appear to trace back to someone who works with DEC.

The department asked people not to call emergency phone lines to complain about the post or the employee. They emphasized that the emergency line must remain clear for real emergencies and that operations need to continue without interruption.

Charlie Kirk was fatally shot while participating in an open forum discussion at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He had been the CEO and cofounder of Turning Point USA and was known for being outspoken on political issues.
