Tragic late-night shooting in Cordova leaves athlete dead

A tragic shooting in Cordova, Tennessee, has claimed the life of an Ole Miss football player and left four other people injured. The incident occurred overnight outside a local gathering spot and has shocked both the Memphis area community and the wider college sports world.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of gunfire around midnight on Sunday. When they arrived, they discovered multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of those victims, later identified as 19-year-old Walker White, a defensive lineman at the University of Mississippi, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four additional victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
