Five Hours Four Flat Tires Nashville’s Slow-Speed Chase Stuns Morning Commuters

A bizarre and slow-paced police pursuit unfolded Tuesday morning across Nashville, beginning around 5 a.m. in Hermitage. Officers discovered a woman passed out behind the wheel of a reportedly stolen vehicle. When police attempted to intervene, she suddenly drove off colliding with two cruisers in the process and launched a low-speed escape that spanned multiple interstates.

Despite early use of spike strips that deflated all four tires, the suspect continued to drive for hours, mostly on bare rims. The pursuit stretched down Bell Road, Murfreesboro Pike, through Antioch, and onto I-24. With speeds barely reaching 15 mph, the surreal nature of the chase quickly caught public attention online and on morning broadcasts.

By 10 a.m., the chase had reached Briley Parkway near the airport, where officers finally used a precision immobilization technique (PIT) to bring the vehicle to a stop. The woman was taken into custody without further incident. Authorities have not yet released her identity or the charges she faces.

The event caused significant traffic disruptions during morning rush hour and became a trending topic on social media, as viewers followed along with the strange and drawn-out pursuit.
