Security tightened at TSU after bomb threat

Tennessee State University is under heightened security after a former student made threats against the school. The individual allegedly contacted the president’s office, claimed to have a bomb, and demanded that the university shut down.

Campus officials responded by notifying Metro Police and the FBI. Authorities carried out searches of buildings for any explosives while coordinating safety measures across the campus.

School leaders say they believe the threat is not credible. They also say the former student is not currently on or near campus. Students and staff have been asked to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior to TSU’s police department.

In the meantime TSU has increased its security presence. These steps include more patrols, tightened access to certain buildings, and close collaboration with law enforcement agencies to ensure campus safety.
