A motorcyclist died after crashing into the back of a vehicle in Nashville Sunday afternoon, Metro Nashville Police report. The crash occurred at about 12:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Gallatin Pike South. 

According to the preliminary investigation, a Toyota RAV4 was traveling down Gallatin Pike South when it slowed to make a right turn. The 36-year-old motorcyclist then collided with the rear of the RAV4. He was thrown from his bike in the impact. 

Emergency responders took the motorcyclist to Skyline Medical Center. He died there later. Police say they are currently in the process of notifying his family about the tragedy. 

Investigators noted there were no signs of impairment at the scene. Officials have not released any further information about possible causes such as speed or road conditions.
