One Dead After McMurray Drive Robbery Related Shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A man was fatally shot and a woman assaulted late Saturday night in what Metro Nashville Police describe as an apparent robbery-related shooting on McMurray Drive, authorities said. McMurray Drive shooting aftermath officers were called to the residential area after reports of gunfire and an assault. According to police, the incident began as an attempted robbery as a woman was arriving home in her vehicle.

Police said the woman was approached by a masked suspect who ordered her to the rear of her vehicle. The gunman opened the trunk and took her wallet and cellphone. As the confrontation unfolded near the passenger side where an infant was seated, the suspect fired multiple shots into the vehicle.

At the same time, the victim’s husband, who had been following in a separate vehicle, exited his truck and was confronted by a second suspect. Witnesses told investigators the two engaged in a physical struggle before the man was shot. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

After the shooting, the suspects fled on foot. The woman was assaulted with the firearm and forced to the ground before the suspects left the area, police said. Officers later recovered the woman’s stolen cellphone in the roadway.

Metro Nashville Police are continuing their investigation and ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers. Tips may be submitted anonymously and could qualify for a reward.
