NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Nashville police officer has been decommissioned following allegations that he drove under the influence and left the scene of two separate crashes, according to Metro Nashville Police.
The department confirmed the officer was removed from active duty while an internal and criminal investigation remains ongoing. The incidents reportedly involved two crashes that occurred within a short period of time.
Authorities allege the officer failed to remain at the scenes of the crashes and was later suspected of driving under the influence. No serious injuries have been publicly reported.
Metro Police stated that decommissioning is standard procedure in cases involving serious allegations. The officer’s name has not been released pending the outcome of the investigation.
The case has been referred for further review, and additional charges could be filed following the completion of the investigation.
