An employee with the Nashville Fire Department is now on paid administrative leave while the department investigates an alleged social media post related to Charlie Kirk’s death.  The leave is in place pending the outcome of an internal fact-finding process. 

Charlie Kirk was fatally shot while hosting an open forum discussion at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He was CEO and cofounder of Turning Point USA.  The alleged post in question was revealed via a screenshot shared by a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives from West Virginia. The screenshot shows a red-box post that reads “Just got my limited edition Charlie Kirk Labubu.” 

In announcing the leave, the Nashville Fire Department released a statement saying NMFD leadership is aware of the social media post and in line with Civil Service Rules the employee has been placed on leave pending the internal review.  The department said that while its investigation is ongoing it will provide no further comment. 

The department emphasized that despite this matter it remains committed to its mission of providing high quality fire medical rescue and emergency response together with community support services.  At the time of the report the shooter who killed Kirk was still at large.
