Multi-county manhunt ends with arrest on I-40

 double homicide in Rickman, Tennessee triggered a multi-county manhunt on Sunday after two people were found shot to death. Deputies from Overton County responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Freeman Lane just before noon. When they arrived they discovered the victims. Tennessee Bureau of Investigation joined forces with the Overton County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Highway Patrol to investigate. 

Shortly after the bodies were found a BOLO alert was issued for the suspect and his vehicle. Authorities looked for the individual in Overton, Putnam and DeKalb Counties. Local agencies coordinated and kept the community informed. 

During the search a fisherman at Center Hill Lake saw a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s being pushed into the water at a rural boat ramp. He called law enforcement. The Tennessee Highway Patrol located the suspect around mile marker 283 on Interstate 40 and arrested him at approximately 6 p.m. 

The suspect was identified as Peyton Nations. He was taken into custody and is being transported to Overton County Jail to be booked. The investigation is ongoing according to the TBI.
