Child Killed Crossing 5th & Main After Scooter Collision with Tanker Truck (East Nashville)

Late on the evening of Sunday, July 6, 2025, a young child riding an electric scooter was tragically struck and killed by a tanker truck near the intersection of 5th and Main Street in East Nashville.

According to Metro Nashville officials, the boy was crossing Main Street when the scooter’s throttle engaged propelling him directly into the tanker’s path. Despite immediate response, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police are examining available video footage that appears to show the scooter accelerating unexpectedly just before the crash. No additional traffic conditions or truck details have yet been disclosed.

This heartbreaking accident highlights the inherent danger in the growing use of motorized scooters, especially for young riders navigating busy streets. The Nashville community and officials continue to stress the importance of safety gear, responsible riding, and cautious supervision.

No charges or fault determinations have been reported as investigations are still underway. Friends, family, and neighbors are deeply mourning this unimaginable loss.
