Metro Nashville Police Department officers delivered food and toys to nearly 430 families and about 1,500 children as part of the department’s annual Christmas Basket program.
Officers distributed multiple bushel baskets of food along with holiday gifts collected through community toy drives held in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The effort is a long-running tradition within the department focused on supporting families identified through officer community outreach.
Department representatives said strong community support played a major role in this year’s distribution. Officers often nominate families they encounter throughout the year who may need additional assistance during the holidays.
Organizers also noted that a single donor covered the entire cost of the food baskets, helping expand the program’s reach and reduce logistical challenges.
